CLO Academy is designed to follow a university course structure to ensure that all students learn CLO the right way. Students can initially take the INTRO TO CLO Basic Apparel Design or INTRO TO CLO Basic Handbag Design courses to develop a strong foundation in CLO, and then additional focus courses can be taken after passing the Basic Apparel Design course. Currently, the focus courses available are The Button Down Shirt, Men’s Sport Coat, and Men’s Denim Jeans, with more coming soon. Future courses will include standalone elective courses on more advanced topics and techniques.
Our goal is to provide learners with a comprehensive skill set in CLO, equipping them with the knowledge needed for real-world applications. The Apparel Design Program (coming Spring 2025) includes the INTRO TO CLO Basic Apparel Design course, three focus courses, and two masterclasses, offering students a structured learning path that covers essential techniques and key industry practices.
All you need to join CLO Academy is an active Individual CLO License and an up-to-date version of CLO. Our instructors will guide you through the courses with short videos and practice files, along with brief quizzes to test your knowledge retention.
Users can progress at their own pace, with ongoing access to instructor support and regularly updated content, aligned with the latest software versions and features. Listening to our community is key, and we’re committed to releasing more content designed for the ever-evolving needs of the industry. For our expert CLO users, we’re offering the Individual User Verification Assessment, currently available in English (other regions TBD). This assessment, offered multiple times a year, lets you evaluate your CLO skills and earn a certification to showcase your expertise in CLO. The exam consists of three sections, with a total time limit of 5.5 hours to complete all parts.

What are the costs of the courses?
Prices vary based on the course length and can range from $10 to $50 – please visit the website to learn more.
How long do the courses take to complete?
The more in-depth courses, like INTRO TO CLO Basic Apparel Design, would take you around 8 hours. Shorter focus courses can run between 30 and 60 minutes.
What software or equipment will I need?
You’ll need a computer that meets the system requirements to run CLO software (check this article for details), a three-button mouse, and the latest version of CLO, which you can download at www.clo3d.com.
Is there a certification provided?
When you finish each course, you will receive a digital certificate of completion for that topic. We also offer the Individual User Verification Assessment for experienced CLO users to test their overall skill in CLO; if you pass, you will receive a CLO Verified digital badge and certificate.
What is the value of CLO Individual User Certification – what does it mean to be verified?
CLO Verified was developed in response to frequent requests from our individual users. By successfully passing the assessment, users demonstrate a strong foundational knowledge of CLO. This certification can be added to their resume, LinkedIn, or portfolio, signaling to potential clients and employers that they possess a solid understanding of the software and are proficient in its use. Unlike courses on other platforms, these credentials are verified by CLO designers and include official CLO branding.
Can I access the course material after completing the course?
No – once you complete a course, you will no longer have access to it.
I don’t consider myself a beginner. Can I jump right into a Focus Course?
Our curriculum is structured so that students learn CLO the right way, and as such, INTRO TO CLO – Basic Apparel Design is a prerequisite course for many Focus Courses to ensure that all students have the baseline level of knowledge required to complete advanced lessons. In the event a learner has recently taken the corresponding Basic Apparel Design course via Udemy, you may send in your certificate of completion and bypass the requirement.
In the future, we plan to release standalone courses that do not require any prerequisite.
Is there support if I have questions?
Absolutely – our instructors and support team are available to assist you with any questions or challenges you face.

Will CLO Academy be available in other languages?
Currently, the courses are available only in English, but we will add subtitles and in the future, different regions will create content in their languages.
Does CLO offer offline training?
